Pilates
Pilates is an exercise method that conditions your whole body. The exercises are designed to strengthen and stretch; muscles will become toned; posture, flexibility and balance are improved. These are mind-body exercises, they are performed at a slow controlled speed with minimum repetitions and maximum concentration. The Pilates system begins by building strength from the core as a foundation, and enables a stronger, more stable spinal column. Pilates balances the body's musculature, strengthening what is weak and stretching what is tight,leaving you with a strong and toned body. You will notice the difference!
Core Body
A Pilates themed class using a wide variety of exercises at all levels to actively engage deep postural muscles. Learn how to move the body as one unit to promote overall strength by working abdominals, back and gluteus. Toning, lengthening and challenging you to the core!
Fitness Fusion
Using your own body weight as resistance, this strength and flexibility class incorporates elements of fitness training and yoga to build strength, stamina and balance while stretching your tightest areas! This class will help you increase energy and self-confidence as you move to discover your true strength. Attention to breath and alignment will help concentration and fuel the mind/body connection.
Dance n' Sweat
Awaken the dancer within you! Move, unwind, sweat and transform while merging with the infectious sounds of music. Choreography is easy-to-follow, and suitable for all levels.
Dancefit
Have you ever wanted to try dancing, but have no experience? Do you have a few extra pounds you would like to say goodbye to forever? If you answered yes, then Dancefit is for you! Each class we will learn the basics of a different dance style from foxtrot to Braziallian, from jazz-funk to salsa. We'll also be taking a cue from dancers and working out using their tried and tested exercises to help tighten and tone all those danger zones. Hips, butt, thighs, core, arms and back, just to name a few!
Come on out, learn a few new dance steps, burn those calories and have a good laugh! I promise you'll be sweating and giggling at the same time and who knows, maybe we'll see you rocking your moves on TV one of these days!
Running Strong
David Bateman is entering his 10th year as a fitness professional and top trainer here in Toronto. He began his journey into fitness by applying the fitness principles to himself through a 60 pound personal weight loss and has never looked back. Through his constant education, he has extensive knowledge in applying proper movement mechanics and intensity to ensure long term results. As an endurance coach, he advises and maintains training schedules for runners and other endurance athletes, from beginners who walk/run their first mile to Ironman and Boston Marathon athletes. David is a veteran of 2 full marathons, 8 half marathons and countless short distance running and multisport races. A workout with David is not only effective, but you will take away knowledge and have a lot of fun as well!
Ultimate Calorie Burner
This intensive 60-75min class has a little bit of everything! Participants will use weights, steps, bands, medicine balls and even each other to get their heart rates up and burn maximum calories in the allotted class time. Medium hard to hard intensity is maintained throughout the class with few breaks (if any)! This class is not recommended for women who are past their first trimester of pregnancy. It is also not recommended for those with injuries, however, some exceptions made based on individual circumstances so please do not hesitate to speak with the fitness manager.
Arms, Bums and Tums
Have you ever wished that there was a class that really focused on your problem areas, like your Buddha belly or your Opra arm wave? Well, now there is!!! This intense class focuses on challenging body weight and resistance exercises to strengthen the arms while maximizing the use of the abdominals and core. Keeping the heart rate elevated throughout the class in order to burn calories is also a focus so that when tank top season rolls around, you’ll be ARMed!!! And let's face it, we could always use more work on the rear view! Butt busting glute exercises round out the workout (get it? Round out the workout), no flat bums here!
Baby and Me Fitness
Baby and Me fitness is a fun, energy filled class to help mom regain her muscular strength and endurance with a special focus on posture. Keeping the heart rate up will not only recondition the cardiovascular system helping to increase energy levels it will also burn calories aiding in the shed of excess 'baby weight'. Moms should bring a baby carrier (front or back) and a blanket to put baby down on. This class is recommended for babies up to a year of age and mom needs to be cleared for exercise by her doctor.
Zumba®
Zumba® focuses on hypnotic latin rhythms and easy to follow moves to create a dynamic fitness program that will blow you away. The goal is simple: make working out fun so that you WANT to workout; after all, consistency is the key to achieving your fitness goals! The routines feature intervals training sessions where slow and fast rhythms and resistance training are combined to tone and sculpt your body while burning fat. Add some Latin flavour and international zest into the mix and you've got Zumba®!
